Orgasms are great, regardless of your sex, gender, and sexual orientation. And while men generally experience two types of orgasms, women have the pleasure of experiencing many types of orgasms.
Too often, discussions of sex are about how women can better please their partners. So today, we’re highlighting women’s pleasure as we discuss the seven (yes, seven) different types of orgasms women can experience.
We’re also discussing why women experience different types of orgasms and what you can do to achieve these orgasms, whether alone or with a partner.
Read on to learn more.
There are many arguments about what types of orgasms women can experience. While some women and people with vulvas claim they can experience only one kind of orgasm, others claim to experience three, while a few say they can experience up to 10 orgasms.
The thing is, the female orgasm is very understudied. This is probably because we’ve prioritised male pleasure during sex for far too long. In fact, the first research on female orgasms was conducted in 1957, which is well under a century ago.
And because men and women have been having sex for all of human history, it’s ridiculous to think that it took that long for us to actually study the female orgasm.
So, we don’t really know why some women experience multiple types of orgasms, let alone how many types of orgasms exist.
With that said, there are many stories from women about their experiences with different orgasms, which is why we can list down around seven different female orgasms. Not everyone can experience all seven types, and many women will only experience one or two in their lifetimes.
However, if you want to learn more about these types of orgasms and how you can experience them yourself, you’ve come to the right place.

Every woman has their own experiences and relationships with sex. Some of you may be able to experience a few of these orgasms, while others will only be able to experience one or two. And there’s nothing wrong with that.
We’ll go through the different orgasms women and people with vulvas can experience. We’ll also talk about some techniques and tricks you can try to achieve these orgasms with yourself or your partner.
This is probably the most familiar type of orgasm that people with vulvas experience. As you probably already know, you can achieve this orgasm by stimulating the clitoris, which is a structure packed with different nerves right on top of the vaginal opening.
This is the most common type of female orgasm and the one you are probably most familiar with. If you haven’t experienced an orgasm before, the clitoral orgasm is a great place to start.
To experience one of these orgasms, you need to find out if you’re the type of person that involves direct or indirect stimulation. Direct stimulation involves rubbing and touching the actual clitoris, while indirect stimulation happens through the labia or clitoral hood.
A great way to start is by rubbing the area around your clitoris in a spiral motion and listening to your body. From there, you can start experimenting with different types of touches and stimulation until you find the one that works for you.
The G-spot can be seen as the female equivalent of the prostate. This is an erogenous area that you can find on the anterior vaginal wall of the urethral sponge. This area can be stimulated during various sexual activities and lead to an intense and highly pleasurable orgasm.
It can be hard to experience a G-spot orgasm for the first time as the sensation leading up to the orgasm can feel like you need to pee. This is why we highly recommend emptying your bladder before tyring out this type of orgasm so you don’t hold yourself back.
To experience a G-spot orgasm alone, you can try inserting a finger inside your vagina once aroused and feeling for an area with a sponge-like texture. You can then start stimulating the area using a “come here” motion or placing a vibrator on that spot.
A G-spot orgasm can also occur during penetrative sex. Positions that can stimulate the G-spot vary from person to person, but missionary and doggy are known to help people achieve G-spot orgasms.
Not many women know it, but you can orgasm by stimulating your anus. The anterior wall of the rectum and the vagina share many nerve endings, which is why many women can orgasm through anal stimulation and penetrative anal sex.
Additionally, the clitoral legs stretch all the way to the anus. So, you can also stimulate that area and have an orgasm through anal stimulation.
We recommend trying an anal orgasm with your fingers if it’s your first time. That way, it is much easier and more comfortable for you. Use a lot of lube and try stimulating the area towards the belly button, similar to how you would stimulate yourself through your vagina.
And again, make sure to listen to your body and see how you respond to different positions and types of stimulation.
The blended orgasm can be a mind-blowing experience. This occurs when a person experiences multiple orgasms at the same time. Usually, this is a G-spot and clitoral orgasm, but it can also be a combination of anal, clitoral, G-spot, and even C-spot orgasms.
The best way to try this kind of orgasm out is by stimulating the clitoris at the same time as the G-spot or other areas. If you’re familiar with giving yourself clitoral and G-spot orgasms, all you need to do is try doing both simultaneously.
When trying to achieve a blended orgasm, we recommend listening to your body again. Start with rubbing your clitoris, then do whatever can turn you on and get you in the mood. Remember, everyone feels orgasms differently, so if you need to rub your nipples, earlobes, or other parts of your body to get you in the mood, feel free to do so.

Did you know that some people can orgasm solely through nipple stimulation?
We’re all probably familiar with the fact that the nipple is an erogenous zone. However, some people can only bring themselves to a full orgasm through nipple stimulation. Not everyone can do this, but there is no harm in trying it out yourself.
To see if you can experience a nipple orgasm, all you have to do is stimulate your nipples. You can do this while having penetrative sex, while masturbating, or on your own. Even if you don’t orgasm solely through nipple stimulation, rubbing and stimulating your nipples during sex or masturbation can still feel great.
Another area that can cause orgasms is the C-spot, which is an area above the cervix. You can achieve a C-spot orgasm through deep vaginal penetration, but this type of orgasm and stimulation may feel different for everyone.
C-spot orgasms may require deep and hard thrusts, which some people may find uncomfortable. So, if you want to try this kind of orgasm out yourself, we recommend starting slow and communicating how you feel to your partner throughout the entire process.
Since this type of orgasm requires deeper penetration, it’s best to try out positions such as missionary and doggy style that allow for deeper penetration. And just like any other type of orgasm, always listen to your body and adjust according to how you feel.
These are technically two different types of orgasms, but they tend to overlap and feel the same. These are unique orgasms as they don’t require any stimulation at all. Instead, the orgasms come solely from the thoughts in your head.
Sometimes, our fantasies can get so intense that they lead to an orgasm. This usually happens when you’re sleeping and having a sexy dream. However, it can also happen while you’re awake and fantasising about an intense scene or scenario.
There isn’t exactly a way to try this orgasm out intentionally, as it usually happens accidentally. However, you can try daydreaming about your deepest sexual fantasy and playing the entire scenario out in your head.
Sex for women is an entirely different experience than for men. And one of the reasons for this is the different types of female orgasms. There are many orgasms that women may experience when having sex or pleasuring themselves, and this can vary from person to person.
So, if you’re ready to explore the types of pleasure you can experience, don’t be afraid to try the above methods. Who knows, you might be in for the experience of a lifetime.
